One of the things I really appreciate about Thailand is how rarely people honk their horns. In some countries, the streets echo with constant honking at all hours—but not here. In Thailand, honking unnecessarily can actually get you into trouble. Other drivers might take it as an insult, which could escalate into road rage.
That’s why Thai drivers typically honk only when it’s absolutely necessary—like when someone suddenly pulls out from a side street. Even then, it’s just a light tap, never aggressive or prolonged.
This polite driving culture helps reduce noise pollution and adds to the overall sense of peace in the “Land of Smiles.”
